Tom Parker, founder of High View Music, Inc., is an organist, guitarist, vocalist, composer, arranger and songwriter whose first songs were written in the 1960’s, when he was a student at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. He began playing church music as an organist at Junior Seminary and, after learning guitar in college, performed at some of the first folk services in Maryland and Virginia. He is currently one of the staff organists at Old St. Mary's in Alexandria, VA, and an independent composer, performer, and arranger of music for worship. He also directs music for the Traditional Latin Mass and Old St. Mary's. Tom graduated from St. Mary's Seminary in 1968 with a degree in Philosophy; instead of continuing studies for the priesthood he decided that his career should be in church music. He received his Master's Degree in Music in 1974 from Catholic University. He was Music Director at St. Mark's Church in Vienna, Virginia for 14 years and has also served at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh, North Carolina, Holy Spirit Church in Annandale, Virginia, St. John's Church in Clinton, Maryland, and Blessed Sacrament Church in Alexandria, Virginia. Most recently he served at St. Dominic's church in Washington, DC as Principal Organist from 2005-2009. After working full time in Church Music for 21 years, Tom moved to North
Carolina, where he found employment with a call center supporting GTE Mobilnet
(now part of Verizon Wireless) doing statistics. He eventually developed a
reporting system for all of that company's customer support centers, and then
went into business as an independent specialist in Call Center performance reporting.
After moving back to Virginia in 1999, Tom continued his consulting work
alongside freelance musical work for several years before shifting exclusively
to musical work. |
